Captain Byng

Written by Paul Conlon. Posted in Belfast Trad Lower Intermediate Level, Newly added tunes

A very kind welcome to the Belfast Trad beginner class to new and past pupils.  Here you will find the tunes we will be learning for the Spring / Summer term 2016 which will cover 10 weeks.

Last term we finished with a rather difficult reel ‘The Tamlin’ and although we will move onto our first new tune of the term ‘Captain Byng’ we will revisit the Tamlin to keep the techniques polished. The first tune is a polka in the key of G major, the notes below are grouped in short phases.

In the first part I have highlighted the ending in red as a variation run-in to repeating the first part. Second time around you would play the notes highlighted in green.
