Epiphone Concert Deluxe Plectrum Banjo

An exquisite, very beautiful 1930 Epiphone Concert 22 fret plectrum banjo. The preferred choice of many jazz players due to the longer scale length, but also played by Irish traditional players using a capo to shorten the longer stretch. All metal parts are gold-plated and engraved, including the deluxe Grover tuners resplendent with their genuine mother of pearl buttons. The instrument is in excellent original condition throughout including good frets and low action.

The five piece neck looks to be made from brazillian rosewood. The neck sides are decorated with ivoroid binding combined with a wood marquetry design, culminating in a gorgeous heel carving. The fret board is decorated with blocks of yellow and black pyralin with fancy engraved designs. The multi-laminated heel is finished with yellow pyralin.

The resonator is equally spectacular, with its full covering in yellow/black pyralin and fancy engraved designs. The flange, tension hoop, tailpiece and side shirt are all engraved with excellent gold plating throughout. The banjo has been given a full valet and setup with a new renaissance head and phos bronze strings.

Perhaps the best feature is that wonderful jazz age tone which emerges effortlessly from this rare and beautiful Epiphone banjo, comes with original hard shell case.
