1926 Epiphone Recording ‘Dragon’ Tenor Banjo


It’s not too often a vintage Epiphone Dragon Head comes up for sale, so this is a great opportunity to own one. Epiphone began its’ “Recording” series in 1925 and this is the Deluxe Art Model, commonly called the Dragon banjo for obvious reasons. The sound from this banjo is incredible as you can see from the 4th picture to the right it has the 2nd generation Epiphone tone ring. The banjo was originally a plectrum banjo and was professionally converted to a tenor banjo by Edinburgh luthier Jock Westwater. Banjo details:
  • 19 fret ebony fretboard with diamond inlays
  • Brazilian rosewood 5 piece neck with centre laminates and trust rod installed
  • Ebony headstock overlay with  mother of pearl dragon etched inlay along with Epiphone Recording in lettering
  • Grover type 2 geared tuners
  • Oettinger  tailpiece
  • 10 -15/16″ renaissance head
  • Beautiful multiply ply sunburst design resonator and wood marquetry side walls
