John Kelly Octave Mandolin

  Hand crafted by Scottish Luthier Alan Kelly who resides from Argyll, Scotland. This one was built in Sept 2015 model number OM013, from fine select tone woods. The back and sides are mahogany with maple binding and ‘Bear Claw’ spruce top with together output a soft bassy tone with great sustain. The neck is made from maple which is laminated in tiers, the fret board is rosewood with a zero fret at the ebony nut. There are a total of 22 frets including the first zero fret, and a scale length of 20 1/2″. The head stock has a thick mahogany layer laminate bearing the ‘K’ for kelly logo and quality Gotoh style chrome plated tuners. The tail piece also has a mahogany cover to match the head stock. A fine sounding octave mandolin with low action and great sound, can be tuned E,A,D,G same as mandolin/banjo or to bouzouki tuning D,A,D,G For Sale £525
